Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) is a water-soluble vitamin found in many fruits and vegetables. It is an essential vitamin, meaning your body can’t produce it. The recommended daily intake for Vitamin C is 75mg. for women and 90mg. for men.
There are many proven benefits of Vitamin C, among them:
Cancer Protocol: High-dose Vitamin C has been used for decades as an adjuvant in patients with cancer in an attempt to further reduce the number of cancer cells. It can be used in conjunction with other therapies (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy). This treatment requires a very high intravenous dose of Vitamin C (normal daily requirements are between 75-90mg.). Gradual increases up to 75-100gm. per infusion are done until desired blood levels of Vitamin C are reached. We also use Glutathione as an additional antioxidant during these infusions. At AgeFocus we follow the Riordan Clinic protocol. Patients start with daily infusions with a gradual daily increase in Vitamin C. Blood levels of Vitamin C are measured after each infusion. After the first 4-5 daily infusions, we usually change to a three-times-a-week regimen and after therapeutic blood levels are reached, infusions are done twice-a-week. Treatment time varies from 30min., with starting dose, to 3 hours when reaching a very high dose.
