Plaxpot™ Plasma Pen
The Plaxpot™ Pen is an FDA-approved handheld resurfacing device that aims to tighten and tone skin, smooth wrinkles, erase acne scars and stretch marks, and reshape the eye area (non-surgical blepharoplasty). Like laser resurfacing, it works by triggering a healing response that stimulates cell regeneration and increases the production of collagen and elastin. Plasma pen is also used to remove benign skin growths: skin tags, warts, moles, seborrheic keratoses, freckles, age spots.
Plaxpot™Pen converts electrical energy into an oxygen and nitrogen plasma stream. When that gas hits the skin’s surface, it causes “micro trauma” to the top dermal layers and shrinks the collagen and elastin fibers—which has immediate and long-term tightening effects. This treatment is also called “fibroblasting,” named after fibroblasts, cells of connective tissue that produce collagen. Because Plaxpot™ generates true plasma, there is little risk of hyperpigmentation or scarring. The difference with the Plasma Arc is there is less risk of burns because it works on the skin evenly and superficially. Most “plasma pen” in the market produce and electric arc instead (like a surgical cautery) which is very narrow and has a deep penetration into the dermis, causing a higher risk of hyperpigmentation, burns and scarring.
Before the procedure, a topical numbing cream is be applied to the skin. Once your skin is numb, the tip of the pen will send energy into your skin in a dot pattern. The actual procedure can last anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of the treated area. Afterward, a topical aftercare cream will be applied, to help your skin heal.
