Skin Rejuvenation
As we get older, we lose fat in the midface. CT scans of the faces of men and women in several age brackets has revealed that there is an appreciable amount of bone loss in these regions with age, leading to changes in angles, lengths and volumes, and also decreasing the distance between the eyes. Skin sagging and wrinkles may occur not only because of loss of soft tissue and fat, but also because bone retraction creates an excess of skin which is no longer flexible. Many of the facial manifestations of aging reflect the combined effects of gravity, progressive bone resorption, decreased tissue elasticity, and redistribution of subcutaneous fat.
Facial rejuvenation is a cosmetic treatment (or series of cosmetic treatments), which aims to restore a youthful appearance to the human face and neck. Facial rejuvenation at AgeFocus can be achieved through either non-surgical and/or minimally invasive options. Procedures can vary in invasiveness and depth of treatment. Minimally invasive procedures can restore facial symmetry, volume loss and laxity. Non-surgical procedures can target specific depths of facial structures and treat localized facial concerns such as wrinkles, skin laxity, hyperpigmentation, rosacea and scars.
Non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments can include peels, neuromodulators (such as Botox/Xeomin), dermal fillers, laser resurfacing, laser rejuvenation (Pico laser), radiofrequency and plasma pen.
Minimally invasive facial rejuvenation procedures can include a brow lift, non-surgical eye lift (Plasma blepharoplasty), non-surgical midface and neck lift, Vampire Facelift, Exosomes Skin Rejuvenation, Fat Transfer, Neck/Face liposuction.
A Skin Complexion Analysis is available for clients looking for facial rejuvenation procedures. The system captures digital photos (RGB and UV light) of the face and measures sunspots, pigmentation, pores, roughness, acne, moisture and wrinkles. A report of skin age and type of skin (see picture) is given. This will help plan treatments, and, most importantly, compare the skin changes after skin rejuvenation treatments are done.
Some procedures will be discussed in this area, while others are described in full in other sections.
Peels
A chemical peel will remove the top layer of your skin, which includes dead skin cells. The result is skin that has better texture and smoothness.
Depending on your goals, you might need to undergo several chemical peel treatments. This treatment option can reduce wrinkles and fine lines while brightening your skin. It can also help to establish an even skin tone.
Neuromodulators
Botox, Xeomin and Dysport are most useful for dynamic lines. It can be used to “weaken” the muscles that are responsible for frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines. Fine wrinkles disappear, deeper wrinkles become softer and barely visible. It can also be used to change the shape of the eyebrows, to soften so-called smoker’s lines around the lips, and to reduce appearance of neck lines among other uses.
This is an FDA-approved cosmetic that is used for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe facial lines. “Toxins” are done by injection and can last three to six months.
Dermal Fillers
Fillers can correct the effects of aging by adding volume (correcting fat, muscle and bone loss that normally occurs with aging) and “plumping” the area.
With fillers we can change some facial features and avoiding surgery. Small chins can be augmented, cheeks and cheek bones can be augmented, facial imperfections can be improved, dorsal aspect of the hands can look fuller (veins less visible). Lip enhancement is another area where fillers can make a significant improvement.
Pico Laser
Pico Laser is an advanced ultra-short, picosecond, laser treatment for acne scars, wrinkles, dark spots (also known as pigmentation or benign pigmented lesions), rosacea and tattoo removal that can transform your skin. Because Pico Laser uses a photoacoustic effect that reaches under the top layer of skin, rather than working by heating the skin, Pico Laser patients have low to no downtime after treatment.
Pico Laser uses several different laser handpieces to achieve results. Pico Laser treatment uses a laser handpiece that splits the main laser beam into smaller, identical beams for treatment of acne scars, dark spots, rosacea and wrinkles.
Radiofrequency
RF Skin Remodeling and Tightening: Venus Freeze™
Venus Freeze™ provides an extremely comfortable, non-surgical solution that harnesses the power of radio frequency technology to boost collagen production by heating the deeper layer of tissue under the skin. This treatment works to smoothen out fine lines and wrinkles, tighten sagging skin, and restore a refreshed, younger-looking appearance.
How it works
Venus Freeze™ works by using a combination of Multi-Polar Radio Frequency and Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields. The two technologies work in unison to safely and comfortably heat the tissue under the surface of your skin, which encourages the body to produce more collagen and elastin fibers. This process results in firmer, smoother skin that looks noticeably more youthful on the surface.
RF Skin Resurfacing, Remodeling and Tightening: Venus Viva™
Treatments are safe, quick & effective, and applicable for all skin types.
It can:
Unique from Conception to Perfection
Venus Viva combines Nano-Fractional Radio Frequency™ (RF) and one-of-a-kind SmartScan™ technology to penetrate deeper, covering a greater area and treating multiple concerns in the same session. It is the only non-invasive RF system that allows your physician to customize the intensity of the treatment to your needs and your personal preferences. Fast on the uptake or taking it easy; the result is the same. A fresh, clear, vibrant, complexion; a naturally radiant you, only younger.
Venus Viva forces the skin cells to produce new collagen, leading to a healthier, more radiant complexion.
Plasma Pen
The PlaxpotTM Pen is an FDA-approved handheld resurfacing device that aims to tighten and tone skin, smooth wrinkles, erase acne scars and stretch marks, and reshape the eye area (non-surgical blepharoplasty). Like laser resurfacing, it works by triggering a healing response that stimulates cell regeneration and increases the production of collagen and elastin. Plasma pen is also used to remove benign skin growths: skin tags, warts, moles, seborrheic keratoses, freckles, age spots.
Vampire Facelift
This treatment uses a component of your own blood to reverse some of the many skin changes that occur with aging. It is also well-known by professional athletes as an excellent modality to repair sport and musculoskeletal injuries.
Exosomes
Exosomes are being heralded as the next frontier of cell therapy. While not being cells at all, they play a vital role in the communication and rejuvenation of all the cells in our body. Science has shown that the cell-to cell communication is important in maintaining a healthy cellular terrain.
Research has given us a valuable insight into the practical functionality of exosomes. By exposing the cells of an older organism to those of a younger organism we can see that exosomes are responsible for rejuvenating the older cells. This healing mechanism can now be used in regenerative medicine.
Fat Transfer
On the face, fat injection can be used to plump areas such as hollow cheeks, around the eyes, temporal area, lips and nasolabial folds, restoring lost volume. We use for the face the Adivive Fat Transfer System that it is an enclosed system with less risks of contamination. Fat is aspirated at low pressures to avoid cell damage, then the syringe is placed on a centrifuge to separate the fat from the anesthesia solution/red cells and oil (from cells that have been damage). This process gives us fat cells that will survive after being injected. In the face some areas require minimal amount of fat, so if those cells do not survive, the difference in volume will become noticeable.
For those who are seeking a natural approach to looking less tired and younger, fat transfer with the Advive System is an excellent choice. This procedure can deliver dramatic, natural-looking results that are long-lasting. Read more…
